Authors interested in publishing manuscripts in the Journal need to register online on the journal website (www.jimd.in) prior to submission of manuscript. The Journal accepts only online submission to ensure timely processing and decisions on manuscript publication. Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with “Uniform requirements for Manuscripts submitted to Biomedical Journals” developed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors in October 2001. Visit http://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/manuscript-preparation/preparing-for-submission.html Manuscripts submitted to the Journal (with single and multiple authors) are accepted with the implied understanding that it is an original piece of work, has the required institutional approvals, the approval of all authors concerned with the manuscript and the manuscript in question has not been published nor is under consideration of publication elsewhere in any form (abstract, lecture, review, dissertation) with another journal or publisher. Authors are required to sign a warranty and copyright agreement form after receiving instructions fron the Chief Editor regarding approval for publication. The Warranty and Copyright Agreement form can be downloaded here on the journal website (in word file and PDF format). The form should be read completely by all authors before appending their name and signature, scanned and uploaded separately after the decision to publish the manuscript in the Journal is conveyed to the corresponding author.

In case of manuscripts with multiple authors, the Journal requires that one of them (designated as corresponding author) would be authorized to correspond with the Journal for all matters related to the manuscript. All manuscripts received by the Journal on its website will be duly acknowledged within 48 hours of submission.

On submission, the editorial review process will be initiated and all submitted manuscripts will be initially scrutinized for suitability for formal review. Authors desirous of publishing manuscripts in JIMD must ensure they strictly follow the detailed ‘Instructions to Authors’ to avoid delays in the review and publication process. Manuscripts with insufficient originality and completeness, serious scientific or technical flaws, gross grammatical errors or incomprehensive language and lack of a significant message are liable to be rejected before proceeding for formal peer-review. Manuscripts that are of unsuitable interest to the Journal are also liable to be rejected at this stage itself. Manuscripts that are found suitable for publication in JIMD are sent to two expert reviewers. During submission, the corresponding author can provide the names, designation and e-mail addresses of two qualified reviewers having experience in the subject of the submitted manuscript, but this is not mandatory. It should only be ensured that the reviewers are not affiliated with the same institutes as the author/s. However, the selection and approval of these reviewers will be decided by the editors. The Journal aims to complete the entire process of review of manuscript and approval in about 8 weeks. The authors will be informed of acceptance of manuscript for publication in JIMD within a week of reviewers decision.

Further correspondence and proofs will be sent to the corresponding author before publication unless otherwise indicated. It is a condition for submission of a paper that the authors permit editing of the paper for readability. All enquiries pertaining to the publication of accepted papers should be addressed through the journal website after quoting the manuscript reference number allotted by the Journal.

In case of modifications required in the manuscript, authors should make the designated changes and highlight in red to ensure compliance of points raised by reviewers and resubmit the manuscript through the appropriate route on the journal website.
